Methodology & sources. Estimates use May 2026 NJ data — ACE residential rate $0.16/kWh, PSE&G $0.26/kWh, JCP&L ~$0.20/kWh, install cost ~$2.57/W, SuSI/ADI rate $85/MWh for 15 years, South Jersey production of 4.3 peak sun hours/day with 0.86 NREL derate, and 3%/year utility rate escalation. NJ exempts residential solar from sales tax (6.625%) and from added property tax assessment. The federal residential ITC (30%) expired for systems installed after December 31, 2025 — this calculator shows $0 for cash purchases in 2026 and beyond unless legislation changes. Lease/PPA savings assume a ~15% bill reduction with no upfront cost. Actual results depend on roof specifics, shading, equipment, financing terms, and future rate changes.
