At Overdevest we are always looking for new, better performing plants. But we would be remiss if we overlooked some of the standard varieties that have stood the test of time. Here are 3 of the older (in a complimentary way!), ever reliable varieties of Salvias or Meadow Sages: 'May Night', 'East Friesland' and 'Blue Hill'. All have varying degrees of purplish blue flowers and continue flowering all season if cut back. Salvias are hardy, easy care, aromatic plants that are NOT preferred by deer. Both butterflies and hummingbirds are attracted to these plants. If you want an hardy perennial for your garden, these varieties are for you! They look great planted in masses but are also attractive as a single accent. They provide vertical interest to patio containers too. A must for all landscapes!
Salvia nemorosa 'May Night' ('Mainacht')
