It has silvery and burgundy fronds and reddish-purple stalks. It is a compact plant, growing to about 12" but it makes a bright impact in a shade garden. The most colorful of ferns, it makes a lovely border but can stand alone or in a small group and provides a beautiful contrast to other ferns which are typically green.
