It has showy blooms and the lovely pink or purple color (depending upon soil) of big-leaf hydrangeas, but as it grows wild on chilly mountain topes, it has naturally developed better cold tolerance. It is a🌈 re-blooming variety so it will bloom early in summer and then again later in the season. Its compact size is great in borders and garden beds and also in patio containers.
