On October 19, our drivers club members participated in a track walk around our 1.9 mile Lightning Raceway. This 10 corner circuit is fast and challenging, featuring some of the most interesting and dramatic corners and elevation changes in the park.
Beginning his racing life almost 45 years ago, Dennis Macchio has had a long and diverse career in motorsports. Track owner and manager, (Bridgehampton), circuit designer, racing school owner and head instructor, (Bertil Roos) team owner (Hot Shoe Racing) and track consultant.
As a pro driver, Dennis will interact with Drivers Club members in exclusive Q&A sessions, track walks, and at a special Happy Hour after on-track activity on his Pro Driver Track Days!
Driving credits include multiple national and regional championships in Formula cars, and several seasons of “tin top” driving in IMSA. At various times, he has held track records at “The Bridge”, Watkins Glen, Charlotte, Savannah, and PBIR, among others.
Having recently retired from his full time gig as Track Director at a Northeast track, Dennis is returning to his passion, which is teaching and coaching. Over the years, his roster of clients has included members of the Andretti, Burton, and Bodine families, and NJMP’s own Aquilante family. Conor Daly, Cam Das, and virtually every track owner on the East Coast are also on the list.
He can be seen and heard on numerous podcasts, including with Ross Bentley. He considers NJMP to be his home track, and has worked with most of the members at one time or another, bringing his unique approach to the science of motor racing.
